Dear Backers’ Club Members,
With a Little Help from my Friends
Truth be told, I was in the office all morning doing paperwork and eating cereal bars. It’s amazing how many of those suckers you’ll plow through when they are freely available (I’m becoming a connoisseur; there’s this one that has a lot of fig. bliss!). Never fear! We’ve got ya covered!
I’m here with my camera guy Dave who is helping me capture all the sights and sounds of set life to pass on to you wonderful Backers… and thank goodness, because today’s location was a real treat! We were shooting at a lovely barn off of Highway #1 West. The Call Sheet (a one page document that provides all the details the crew needs to manage the day) tells a tale of gravel roads, farm animals on location and lunch in “a big white tent.” Sounds like fun, and judging by the footage that Dave shot, it really was. Make sure you check out our day in the countryside by watching the Video Blog for Day 5.

Meeting the Assistant Directors
While I have a moment away from shooting, I thought we could take a moment to meet the Assistant Directors (or “ADs”) and find out a little more about them.
There’s actually five assistant directors on Corner Gas: The Movie, all working hard for one purpose – so that our director, David Storey, can focus on getting great shots and excellent performances without having to worry about the technical details. If you think about it, making a movie is pretty close to insanity. You have to make sure that all the right people with all the right costumes and props make it to all the right locations to be shot by all the right equipment, and this has to happen day-in, day-out, regardless of weather or conditions for weeks at a time with as few lost minutes as possible. It’s the Assistant Directors that make sure all of this happens for David.

I could tell you what they do and what the difference is between a 1st AD and a 2nd AD, but I thought of something even better. I asked Cam, our amazing Set Production Assistant who works with the ADs every single day, to give me the full low-down. It’s an on-set audio interview that you can listen to by clicking on the “Play” arrow button below:
OK Backers, that’s it for today! Starting on Day 6 we’re in the studio. We’ll tell you (and show you) all about it.

Is there a chance that Thunder Face will play us another tune? If not in the movie, then perhaps on this site.

Tell Tara not to throw those Cheezies around! We can’t get ’em in the States unless a Canadian friend sends us a care package of those delectable treats! 🙂
